Looking to rebuild

Hello all, I'm looking to significantly decrease video encoding time. This is what I have currently:

i7-970 hexacore with mild overclock to 4ghz
Asus Sabertooth x58 mobo
6 x 4gbs DDR-1600 triple channel (24gbs total)
EVGA GeForce GTX 680 SC Signature 2
Kingston HyperX 240gbs SSD (OS drive)
5tbs external hardware RAID 5 box
Win 7 x64

Are there any reasonably affordable platforms that will meet my objective? ("reasonably" is defined as no more than $1,500 for processor+mobo+ram)

Thoughts? Comments?

Wait for IvyBridge-E which comes out within the next few months.

Purchase a ~500 USD Hex core and a ~120-200 USD mobo (make sure it has 8 ram slots) and 4 sticks of 8 gB ram (you can reuse 4 sticks of your old ram if you don't need the capacity).
Purchase an H220 closed loop water cooling setup and overclock the bajesus out of the processor.

You've already got a pretty beastly setup, but if you can sell that 970 to finance an upgrade then I'd recommend waiting for Ivy Bridge E, coming in September. It'll still be six cores, but should be a good deal faster per clock.

On your advice, I looked up the Ivy Bridge E article by posted on Anand's site. The i7-4960X looks pretty good if it comes in around 1k but not too much more. That doesn't leave much for a good mobo and ram.

However, the upcoming Haswell E looks even better with 8 cores. These are interesting time we live in.

Sometime in 2014 was what I was seeing. I just happen to chance upon it while I was googling Ivy Bridge E. I also checked out some octo-core Xeons. Too rich for my blood.
