I currently have:

Win XP
DFI- ultra lanparty mobo
3800+ x2 @ 2.6Ghz
2GB OCZ RAM
evga 7800gt
antec neo-power 430watt psu
3 HDs (all small, i want to get another 500 or 750)
2 lite-on DL dvd burners
coolermaster cm stacker
logitech G15 keyboard and a mx510 mouse
westinghouse 37" 1080p monitor and a viewsonic 22 crt

I think i'm just going to want to swap out: psu, mobo, cpu, ram, and gfx card.

This is for a jack of all trades pc: gaming, home theater, video encoding, etc.

What is the sweet spot right now for best performance/dollar? I want high quality parts, so i'm thinking Intel since its the king for now and Asus since my DFI has been a PITA as of late. I'm not sure on the gfx card yet, i'd like to see the benches from both crysis and the new GTS before i make a decision there, so lets just assume the purchase will take place within the next month.

Oh, buudget is around $700, buying in the US, and plan on doing mild/medium OC'ing

Thanks guys!

I know that, but i'm in need of a new mobo soon, my usb ports are failing... i can live with the 7800gt as long as it takes

Cool... so what mobo is preferred right now? I learned that i'm not really into OCing enough to need all the tools DFI offers. Asus seems to have great reliability - i'm just not edumacated on the latest chipsets and boards.

Q6600 is the sweet spot for power/dollar right now? Anything in the pipeline this month that would possibly be a better alternative within the next couple weeks?

I appreciate the input :) I will most likely do some OCing... I think its the best way to get more bank for your buck. how does the Gigabyte stack up against the asus P5k?
