First off, I'm talking about This Monitor.

Now before I go click that buy button, a few questions for owners of the monitor (or people who know about it):
1.) Is widescreen really worth it. (I game and watch movies) I mean, is it REALLY worth it.

2.) How big does the monitor feel. I don't want to go from a 19in. 5:4 to a 20.1in 16:10 WS monitor and have it feel smaller.

3.) I know you loose a little bit of space on height, but would you say that the rest of the space (across) makes up for it?

4.) Sorry if I feel like I'm being a pain, just when I want to drop $350 on a monitor (or for anything for that matter), I want to get a good one :p

BTW, I know that the monitor has some backlight bleeding, but I have a VP930b and it has the same problem. I never notice it so as long as the bleeding isn't any worse than my monitor.

Thanks. :)

I have gamed on a 2005fpw and a 2007fpw and a 21" trinitron. I am kinda torn between all of them the all have their perks, the 2005fpw doesn't have banding, but has bad black levels. The 2007fpw has awsome black levels, but has banding. The crt is plain good but it's huge and hurts my eyes if I use it for a LONG time, plus it isn't widescreen. I really like widescreen but on the other hand I really like this 21" trinitron because of great colors and black levels but everytime I look at the widescreen I want it so bad. I am actually looking at that lcd the most right now. I say go for it. Movies and games will look great if you watch from the desk. I have my bed right by my computer so I can watch my anime on it. It looked good with the lcd but I like the height of the crt because of the bigger subtitles.

I have one of them, having purchased it based off the glowing reviews it has been given by other members here. The LCD isn't bad, it's quite fast for games, but after using it for a while I actually don't think I would recommend it for general use or movie watching. I have compared it to the both the Dell 2007WFP and the Acer 2032WA that I own, and I honestly think both of these monitors come out ahead of the Viewsonic. Text and internest usage seemed better on the Dell then the Viewsonic, while games were just as fast. I picked up the Acer because I wanted a LCD that has a glossy screen, and I couldn't be happier. Both these monitors cost around the same price, and I think are better alternatives. As far as backlight bleeding goes, my 2025 arrived with no dead pixels, but each corner of the screen appeared to have a spotlight shining from it, in the infamous X pattern. It is going back to Buy.com on Monday for a refund.

I probably going to get the Viewsonic because of the price. I really don't need the glossy screen (and what would a glossy screen do?).

Unless anyone says otherwise, I have heard a lot of good things about this monitor and I'll buy it next week (i think) unless someone suggests not to. (then I'll think about it and probably get it anyway ;))

Also, can I get a link to the other monitor's (Acer... etc.)? Thanks.

And the thing you have to remember is that I'm upgrading from a 19in. 5:4 LCD (VP930b). I know I'm going to loose a little height, but I'm just not sure how it'll look when I get it. Oh well, I guess their's only one way to find out... :)

good colors, good black levels, fairly fast panel with minimal ghosting. i got mine for $319 after MIR. to me, that's a great value.

if you're paying more than $350 for it, i'd take a look at the 2007wfp, which has a deal for $359 shipped. the banding issue should be resolved (tho the dell rep could not confirm if the panels in the channel were new revisions), and it features better inputs and better adjustability. visually, they are both very good panels, it just comes down to dell having more features.

What is the banding issue? I just bought a 2007wpf and I don't notice anything abnormal about the picture.

I said about $350. Actually it's from Newegg for $329+Shipping.

that's a good value IMO. and the general consensus of ppl who have widescreen (at least on this forum) is that

they wouldn't go back.
