I think I have settled on the Onkyo HTS760. From all the reviews I have read, it seems to be the best for the money. I checked it out at my local circuit city and the FM tuner sounded okay, but how good can a radio station sound? I also was able to listen to a CD that the salesman had available. But it was some crappy old music, not the type I listen to, but it still sounded okay. Not great, but good enough. I didn't expect it to excel at music though. I mean its a 500.00 dollar bookshelf HTiB. Unfortunately I could not test its DVD performance in store, but from all the reviews I have read, it does a darn good job of it.
Anyways, I was planning on buying it from crutchfield since I get a 10% discount there and they have awesome customer service. Total would be 449.99 for the system itself, crutchfield AV referance and home theater guide thrown in for free. Normally it would ship for free due to it being over 199 or 299, whatever the price point is, but due to its weight I will get charged 15.99 for freight shipping. For a total price(just fro the system mind you, no extras like speaker wire or stand included) of 465.98.
Now while I was at CC today just browsing and checking the system out again I noticed it was on sale. It normally sells for 599.99 on the website, but now it has a 100.00IR online. The B&M already had it marked at 499.99, but today i noticed it had a 30.00 dollar MIR on it for a total price of 469.99. 4 dollars and 1 cent more expensive then cructhfield.
I am wondering what would be the better way to go. I know cructhfield has excellant CS and if there was a problem with the unit or I just didn't like it I could return it and they would pay shipping costs.
Where as with CC, all I would have to do is drive it downt he street a mile and return it.
Is the extended warranty at circuit city worth it at a cost of 109.99? Does crutchfield offer something liek this, if it is worth it?
What would you do in this situation?
