Hello all,

I just put together a E6400 rig and am looking to upgrade my video card. I understand directx10 cards are comming out in christmass. So wait for one of those? If not what is the best value card out there right now in the $200.00 range thanks in advance!

EVGA 7900GTO - $229.99 AR

This is by far the best deal out there right now. This card is a full blown 7900GTX with slower memory clocks. There are reports that flashing the GTO's BIOS with the GTX's, making it a fully functional GTX, is highly probable.

On top of that, you can buy now and step-up to the G80 at Christmas time if u so choose.

well if X1900XTX were $230 i would recommend that over 7900GTO..

Thanks tuteja yeah I'm itching for a new card but I have to agree probably best to wait and get the 8 series from nvidia or the equivalent ATI card I don't plan to go SLI or crossfire so I need the best single card solution

x1900xt $239 @ chiefvalue
7900 GTO has rendered all NV cards above $200 obsolete/uncompetitive IMO Cost $259 at mwave

I'd flip a coin... Both are excellent. Best card values in years.

Edit beware of that rebate from tigerdirect matt and others are pimpin.. I doubt you'll see it.

A 1900XT 512 is a much better deal over even the 7900GTX even if they were priced the same.
A 1900XT 256 also competes the 7900GTO to some extent.

But the X1900XTX is crap, remember?

BTW, the stock 7900GTX edges out the X1900XT on averages IIRC.
And most 7900GTXs aren't stock.

The 7900GTO is slightly slower than the 7900GTX, which puts it just below the X1900XT on average.

But it has a much quieter cooler which eliminates the need for aftermarket cooling.
