Those are both good desires to have. However, we're going to take you out of your comfort zone. You are probably self-conscious and this is the reason you don't wanna be seen exercising. However, that is part of your growth as a person. You are taking action to lose weight. You may as well creep out of your shell a little bit more. What do you think people are going to say? "Look at that guy, working his butt off, trying to get into shape. Man, I hate his determination." That makes no sense at all. I respect people who are regularly in the gym and look toward making good progress. You definitely need to overcome that fear, not care what people think, and do your thing. I, along with everybody else, admire someone with enough determination to do something about their lifestyle to improve how they live.
As brikis said, I have a sticky at the very top of this forum. I'm unsure how everybody misses it 'cause it got put there for this very reason

I will also be adding a handy list of healthy foods that are good to dip into if you run out of ideas. It's very general and I think it got taken from bodybuilding.com or the like, I'm not sure. It should help in your endeavor.
