This post is going to start on a corny note,

I have been a member for a while and I am completely impressed by the way people help out each other. I have seen questions form small to large answered with great professionalism (excluding the accessional childish jerks). I have had many of my questions answered quickly and accurately, so in my quest to return the favors I have tried to help out other people with my little knowledge of computers (I would like to think otherwise). Now I would like to give back to the Anandtech forum and the only way I can is by joining you distributed computing team. Can someone send me some info on how to join and what I need to do to get setup? Thanks!!!

That depending on which project you wish to join. The d2ol team needs all the help it can get to stay ahead of the DPC and there is a sticky thread at the top of the forum

The DPAD team would be honoured to have you join us 🙂

Setup is really easy, just take a look at the page I have linked above 🙂

However, whichever project you choose to join, you will be welcomed with open arms 🙂

well first off let me say WELCOME!

Whatever project you choose that would be great!

Our D20l team is in a heated contest for first i belive, SOB is 1st for now, Seti is trying to take over 4th, DPAD is shooting for first, F@h is falling 🙁 & needs serious help, lifemapper is shooting for top 20s, DF & UD i dunno.

Choose the project that best suits your ideals and well..yeah!

Stay awhile, the babes and the beer are waiting in the hot-tub. Welcome!

People choose their projects for a variety of reasons... ranging from very personal reasons (work on cancer research for example) to balances between convenience and what interests people. It's really a choice you need to make on your own. I started off working on the RC5 project that was attempting to prove that encryption could be broken through brute force. Now I'm working on D2OL that is doing research into curing diseases like ebola, SARS, and anthrax.

You can join as many teams as you like but generally unless you're running a duallie or hyperthreaded machine the different projects don't always get alone together on the same machine.

After you setup the program and register there will be an option to join team. click on it and chose Anandtech.
Tomorrow you will be in Geoff's new member thread and stats thread.

All the setup asked me for was my E-mail address, I never had the option to choose a team. How can I go back and fix this?

Go here and click on the register link below the login info.

Fill in the info:

Node ID: Can be found in the top right hand corner of the application window
Node Email: Email address you used when you installed
Member name: Whatever you want allthough it would be nice if you put TA_ in front of it 🙂

After you're done registering click on the Teams link at the top and it should let you choose a team (Team Anandtech) 🙂.
