Looking to improve emulator performance.

At this point i think that emulation is better choice than console ( at least with games that are working correct ). Better graphics, save states, better loading times...

If the cheapest mildly overclocked 4 core 4 thread socket 1156 chip doesnt do it for you, then chances are a 3570k @ 4.3GHz wont either. Bad coding is bad coding.

Or you can get a console and not worry about which games are going to work correctly or key bindings or shit performance, corrupt graphics etc etc. I've dabbled with emulation in the past and it's alwasy shit compared to the actual console. Any graphics improvement is mainly due to higher pixel density of a computer monitor vs a TV set.

This works for a PS2 but what about older consoles, where emulation is particularly attractive? Why spend lots of money on an ancient console that may fail at any moment when you already have a PC (presumably) and free emulators?

Pretty sure I already touched on why. Obviously console vs emulators is going to be a personal choice but free emulators work like free emulators, which is to say, not very good.

Then I guess I'm lucky becouse almost every game that i own are working fine ( except Coraline but it's not a big deal anyway ). But you're right, it's a matter of choice.

It's a shame you wrote it off long ago.

My PS2 games look far better on the PC than PS2, while running faster. I don't know when you tried or with what system, but I know in my case, I could never go back to using my PS2. The difference is like night and day.

The older consoles eventually need their circuitry replaced though, since they don't do digital output. I still have Genesis (that has a non-Samsung encoder since it's one of the model 1s) that plays the games, but I used it 5 years ago and the video output with composite had definitely degraded and the headphone jack didn't work. Kega Fusion isn't perfect, but it's damn close. PCSX2 is extremely fast in software mode, although the graphics emulation isn't 100% accurate and there may be some games I haven't tried that don't work properly. However, given time and AVX2, emulation will eventually be at least 99.8%.
