I'm tired of the bumps and stuff in my driveway and I was wondering if anyone knew a rough base price to asphalt a driveway about 110ft long, 14ft wide.

Thanks. ;)

"If directions to your house involve turning off the paved road, you might be a redneck"

You are looking anywhere from $5,000 to $10,000 depending on the contractor.
Make sure you specify premium asphalt with rubber in it.
Do not try to go the cheap route !
When they repave a driveway, they will tear up the old asphalt and ship it to a plant where they grind it up and reuse it to pave again.
During that process, they will add liquified rubber and silicone and put it into the mix.
This makes the asphalt extremely stable and very tough making your driveway last a long, long time.
In comparison, remelted asphalt (the cheap stuff) has only hardeners and oils added to ther mix drastically reduces the lifespan of the asphalt.
Hope this helps ;)

110ftx14ftx2in (2 inch is probably sufficient for a residential driveway, it will crack if you put a heavy load on it, ie a backhoe) = 256.7 ft^3 of Asphalt.

Average Unit Low bid price in Utah is = $66.00 cu yard. (3/4max Asphalt concrete)

256.7 ft^3 = 9.506 cu yard * $66.00 = $627.00.

Your price won't be comparible because unit prices on highway projects don't include the mobilization fees and such that you will have to pay. As a rough guess I would say double or triple price for a residential driveway so around $1200 to $2000. Oh and I forgot, oil price increases have shot asphalt prices up 20% since the 99 levels that my number was based on, so add 20-30% to the price.

Pave it in concrete yourself, it's more durable if you do it right and it's not hard to do.

Depending on where you live.

Asphalt (blacktop) $2.00 - $3.00 per square foot, installed.

A couple more thoughts:

Make sure it is at least 70F when it is laid.
It should take a full day just to prep that size driveway.
2 1/2" is enough for a residential if it is an honest mesure and has no thin spots.
When looking for a contractor, ask questions. Find a few driveways that are really well done, knock on the door and inquire who installed it and ask people you know that have had asphalt installed.
Find a contractor that batches(manufactures) their own material.

I've bought alot of asphalt and all contractors and materials are NOT created equal!

Man I guess I really am a DIY'er I assumed the ground was all ready graded, leveled and had an appropriate base course. :) If of course you have that stuff done it will add a couple thousand to the price because it will be a seperate crew with seperate equipment.

You can't really do asphalt paving yourself, you need a power screed to get a good level course and a good set of eyes on the crew that can spot low spots (and fill them in). In addition it helps if you have people on the crew that know how to roll asphalt correctly.

You can do concrete yourself, but will need help for the actual pour, especially on a big driveway.
