Basically I was looking at this Microsoft optical mouse Is it worth it? I have read some mixed reviews on this...and I wish this one had the buttons either side instead of both on one and what about the side scrolling feature...does it get in the way? Thanks

If you're going to be gaming with it, I'd be wary of lag.

Yeah, gaming will be almost number one thing ill be doing on it. Will pachine performance affect the lag or is it simply lag to the receiver and has nothing to do with specs?

It's lag between the mouse and reciever. You may want to look at the Logitech MX700, many people report no lag with them.

I have two wireless mouse one being the Microsoft Infared model and the other being a Bluetake bluetooth model. The microsoft is the best mouse I have ever used; it is smooth like butter and has a high quality design. The only thing I hate about the microsoft is the huge dongle transmitter. Battery life is superior, I have yet to replace the batteries!

The Bluetake is another story. I think the biggest problem is the bluetooth stack taking awhile to load. Bluetooth technology is slow and does not work well with a mouse IMO.

I hate my wireless mouse. It's not as precise as a wired one. You have to change the batteries constantly (I have 8 rechargeables that I switch around) and they always seem to die in the middle of a major CS battle. For the positive side, I've learned about a lot of hotkeys while trying to use my mouse as little as possible...

I have an MX900. THere's no noticable lag, it works in other rooms of the house :D and it's very nice. My only complaint is that it, and the mx700 before it, run out of battery power @ the worst times.

MX700
The only way to go.
I would take this mouse over any other while playing games.

BTW the MX DUO works great. (both wireless mouse and keyboard)

Go for the logitech MX700 or the MX900 like everyone says. I have the MX700 and it rocks, but I figure the MX900 is better.

It just has longer range. Since it depends on bluetooth, it takes a while to activate on startup, about 10 or 15 seconds.

The tilt wheel is awesome.

I have a Microsoft 2.0 wireless with the tilt wheel & i love it.
Everyone says the Logitech's are better, but i much prefer the feel/shape of the Microsoft, & it's never given me any probs with gaming.

Put another vote in for the mx duo. Absolutly no lag and the best mouse i ahve ever used. Just charge up the mouse every 3 or 4 days in its little cradle and its good to go.
