any experts here want to chime in? I googled and it looks like the few links I found people were having problems, but they were old posts so I'm not sure. Here is the remote I want

Dell M2010 - it's a rebaged Gyration. Apparently Dell uses some weird proprietary connector (imagine that lol)

with this Kinamax IR Blaster Remote

from what little I know about IR remotes and PC's, if you have a receiver and EventGhost or some other software that'll take remote commands and map them to keyboard keys.

I can find NOTHING about this exact remote except a few people over a year ago saying "I couldn't get this remote working on my PC" But from what I've read on the programs to convert the signal, pretty much any IR remote should work? Or am I off base here.

I just want to know if ordering the 2 things will let me use the remote in XBMC on Vista Ultimate.

Thanks, ans sorry for the stupid question I'm just a bit puzzled still.

Are you using this with your TV, or just with your computer monitor? If it's with your TV, I'd recommend an IR blaster and a Logitech Harmony remote with custom keymaps for your PC. Otherwise I'd go with an RF remote, like one from Keyspan or a Firefly.

with my PC, this dell remote in particular is one I like, I just don't know if it will work with my PC well.
