Looking to buy a 20ish hour DVR. I don't want to pay a monthly fee though. I don't care if I have to enter it in myself to record at "XX" time on "XX" channel. Do those exsist? Or anything in that line?

yes, get a Tivo without the monthly subscription. It will still operate with the features of a standard VCR(record, play, FF, REW, Pause)

TiVo is truly awesome, I was just learning some new things about mine tonight and let me just say, javahmo is an awesome program that works with the TiVo...

I'm still waiting on the DAMN 7.1 software update.

I have a full TIVO and a Toshiba SD-H400. Full TIVO is much cooler but the free lifetime basic service isn't bad either.

Then buy a TV Tuner Card and PVR software (read RossMAN's post dated 01/02/2005 05:39 PM).
