Well i'm officially in a rut.

I've been in the loss prevention/security field every since high school, and stuck with it b/c it was what i had the most experience in.

Now im sitting here at my desk a month after getting my 2nd year review at my job and i got a measly 1k raise. Living on long island in NY, 1k gets me about half a tank of gas a week.

I need a change, and I want a complete change. I dont mind starting a little lower than what i get now, I just need something new. I started the process with the nassau county police, but its not a lock yet so i cant bank on it. (though getting it would solve all)

Has anyone changed career paths? How did you find the new job ur in now? I'm having a hard time thinking what i should go after......

Did you go to College?

If not, go to College. Take a variety of diverse courses and see what you enjoy most. It wouldn't hurt ;)

Go be an economist! Or go back to school and get a degree in something you want to do.

I understand the dilemna. That's why I suggest school, since it at least shows your interest. Then maybe you make a contact in school, get luck, and get your foot in the door sompleace. You never know...

i still have over $16k in loans that i owe for the last schooling i did (which was probably a waste of time). can't really afford to go back to school. plus going to school after working 8 hours blows...

Make a list of the skills that you have and relate them to the experience of your current job. You could get a job in management. Also look at Federal jobs, the number of which have dramatically increased under this administration.
