looking to buy nice poker chips (for home games)

QueBert

Lifer
I have really crappy feather weight plastic poker chips currently. I decided to look around, I've found a few places that sell clay chips, they feel very heavy and look nice. But, I'd like to find some with dominations on them, like in Vegas.

I found this link

Custom Made Poker Chips

aside from having to order 500 chips minimum, and them being expensive (custom and all) I know nothing about this, and the web site to me looks very hokey. Really I wouldn't mind spending that kind of cash to get some really high quality chips with my own logo and design. That is what the link says they do. Would be nice for bragging rites 🙂
but dropping 500 dollars on an unknown web site for a product that may or may not be worth is, I can't do it!

I'm tired of my cheapo plastic chips, and the plain color clay ones bore me. Anyone know of an alternate? or possibly even a well known place that does custom chips?

thanks 🙂

ebay has some nice 11.5 g chips if you look around. no custom jobs (i dont think), but nice price for sure

go to Build a Poker Chip Set

u can do logo, amounts, etc....

aren't Clay the good ones? I was under the impression that Vegas uses 11.5g Clay chips

another question, I was looking around the web @ custom decks of cards. Most require a huge order, which make sense. (like 150-250 decks) If I wanted to design my own and print them on myself, what type of paper would be best to use? I'm messing with a deck of cards right now, and I've never came across stock paper like this...

Most properties use clay, some use plastic. Plastic has a longer table life than clay. Next time your in Vegas, go to the Gamblers Bookstore. They have a nice selection of club quality chips.

sorry i meant clay composite....the ones that are around 24 cents each arent totally clay (although they feel real)...the casino ones are the more expensive ones

You?re opening another can of worms. If your dead set on having custom cards printed up then do the 150 min order unless you want your decks to look like something out of the 19 century.

The only difference between club quality and casino quality chips is the security detection added in the chips.

Oh 150 decks is way overkill for me. I'm really thinking about going with custom chips from homepokerchips.com. Really expensive but full color with custom logo on edge to edge printing, with printing also on the border of the chips.

600 dollars for 500 custom chips is kinda steep. But braging rites don't come cheap 🙂

Chips, cards, tables and seating are a minimal part of the cost. Keeping a well stocked bar, sandwich trays and snack trays cost allot for private games.

well stupid people usually don't think 🙂 Yes, over a dollar a chip is crazy. But I've only found 1 other place that makes full color different on both side, custom chips that are on par with vegas quality. And they charge over $2 a chip. My logic here is, I pay a lot to get the most uber chips possible. Which will make everyone wanna play at my house, as a result I will win win win, and get my cash back in no time 🙂

I love Poker so to me, a one time big investment on some custom top of the line chips wouldn't be a bad investment.
