Looking to buy an LCD

I'm setting up another system in my room for lab work and I'm looking to get an LCD for the monitor. I've looked around online and checked the local best buys and Fry on the off chance I might find something. The problem is, I'm not too familiar with LCDs. Wondering if ATOT had any advice or suggestions about what to look for. I don't need a dell 2000FP or anything like that. It will be used with programs only, no games, so text and that sort of thing. The size I'm not too concerned about, 15 up is fine. bugget is around 300. Any thoughts or suggestions? Thanks

I personally suggest the Dell 1700 fp or Samsung 172N. Both of these can be obtained for around $350 with the right rebates or discounts.
