Looking to buy an LCD HDTV

Requirements:
Price range is <= $2500
Size >= 40"
# of HDMI ports >= 2
Resolution = 1080P

Ive been looking for awhile, and it seems like the most economical option is the 42" Westinghouse 1080P. (Cons: No HD tuner, only 1 HDMI)

I also like the Sharp Aquos 42", which seems to be a pretty good fit.

Any suggestions?
 
If you're getting cable or sat you don't need an HD tuner. You might like mulitple HDMI inputs though, but for me 1 is enough because it goes through my Onkyo reciever that does the HDMI switching.
 
I have the Aquos 42" and it's a beautiful TV. While you could probably find a 46" under $2500, the 42" is known for not having the banding problems that the 46" and 52" in have. The question is whether you want the bigger TV with a bigger chance of having one with a problem.
 
The sharp is nice, i recommend the Samsung. I don't know if the 42" has 2 HDMI ports, but I know mine does - its the 32"
 
JVC LT-40FN97 or Sharp Aquos LC-42D62U or Sony Bravia KDL-40XBR2...

One of those three which ever you can find the cheapest is the best bet for a 42inch TV in your price range.
 
There are quite a few to be had in that price range.. Toshiba has a 42" 1080P, 2HDMI, can use a CableCARD for under $1800. Best Buy has the model # as 42HL196. Though I'd personally spring a bit more for a Sony XBR or Sharp Aquos.
 
Is there any particular B&M store that is the best in terms of returns/warranty?

Right now I would probably go with Circuit City or Best Buy, but their prices are pretty inflated.

Costco still has one of the better warranties even after their latest change in policy.
 
Why do you want 1080p? Nothing displays it, and the quality difference between that and 1080i is minuscule and pretty much non-existent at any distance away from the set.

You have more choices if you are willing to look at 1080i screens. You can find 1080p, but it's not a big benefit.

I have this one. It is a great TV for the money. But the Aquos has come down in price to compete.

But, if you're willing to spend a little more, get the new Samsung 40". It and the 46" use the same panel as the Sony XBR and look just as good.

this one is highly recommended. In fact I picked one up from circuit city 2 weeks ago for just a little more than amazon had it. It's an excellent deal, has true 1920x1080p resolution, and the contrast ratio/color is outstanding. I actually did a side by side between this and the Sharp Aquos in Circuit City, there was almost no comparison. The colors looked much better on this one.

It also has 2xHDMI, built in tuner, VGA, etc etc. It's a beautiful TV, and you really can't find a better deal for the price. Good brand (Sony uses the same samsung panels in their Bravia TVs), great price, full resolution, and the TV has many many favorable reviews, what more do you want?

That's quite possible, however you can go and likely still see the model display (it also comes in a 46" (s4695d) that you can use for comparison, and amazon still has them. It really is a best bang for your buck TV, for the picture quality, brand name, resolution, digital tuner, etc.
 
Make sure you buy one that does 1:1 pixel mapping.. Some will cut off some of the image and then stretch the remaining pixels, for no reason.
 
CC has the Panasonic 50" plasma which is the best bang for the buck for $1799.00 and at Fry's B&M untill friday it is $1699.00 BUY IT.
