Question for all you video buffs out there.

I'm looking to buy a TV tuner for my Media Center PC with dual tuners so I can record both shows at the same time like I do now with my cable provider, Time Warner. I've had a Hauppauge device before (WINTV-USB) and I've really liked it a lot.

I'm looking to get the WinTV PVR-500 MCE but I'm not sure if I should take the plunge. I've found it online for $140.00 out the door, but wondering if it's a good buy or if there is somthing out there that might be better? Does anyone have any personal experience or opinons?

Thanks!

I can say from personal experience that the Hauppauge WinTV-PVR cards are very good. I have not used the PVR-500, but it is supposed to be essentially two PVR-150s stuck together, and the PVR-150 has worked well for me so far. You might be able to get two PVR-150s for less than a single PVR-500 (but of course then you lose another PCI slot).

You might want to do some research over at www.avsforum.com. They have tons and tons of discussion on all sorts of HTPC topics.

Yah, I was looking at the PVR-150's, but they cost the same for two of those as the single PVR-500. I figured I'd rather save the PCI slot for a nice sound card so I can hook it up to a nice stereo receiver when I get out of school.. Thanks for the hint on avsforum.com.)
