I am looking to buy a scanner that is a no frills scanner, needed for office use, to scan in documents, and needs to be as fast as possible, but the image quality needs to be ok as well.

Also to consider is that most of the scans will be laminated (that is how we receive them), so that is important.

Epson scanners are usually among the top in the reviews - my cheap 1260 Photo works just fine but maybe not as fast as you need.. Always check the Epson store as they have great prices on refurbs and close-out models. Often free ground shipping too.

Ok.

First things's first: we are not based in the US. (but thanks for the help anyways)

Now, the other thing is, we also need it such that there are no extra options (such as automatic scanning to email, etc.) and need something that is fast (I asked the local computer store, and they said Epson's were good and fast) but it also needs to be of a decent price (don't need the above mentioned features influencing the price)

Any ideas?

The Epson office in Europe may also have a store to move refurbs/returns and clearance items. It may be worth your while to look for it or call them directly to see how they unload those types of items. I just looked around the Belgian site and couldn't find a store, but then I'm not too adept at either of the two languages available. Or maybe you have a friend in the states who could grab one and ship it to you. You'd have to figure in the cost of a small power converter (mine uses 110VAC at 500mA). Might be worth the effort considering the current exchange rates... Check eBay too.
. The features you mentioned add almost nothing to the cost as they are mostly implemented in the drivers. You would have to buy an ancient used (or perhaps a top-end) scanner to find one that lacks one-touch features. Good luck.
