Looking to buy a printer to use to print dvd and game covers

I am replacing the dvd covers and game covers in my collection and need to get a printer for it. I am probably going to be printing on glossy paper, and will be doing at least 100 covers. Probably more. They are going to be color prints, I am not sure if I should use a laser printer or a inkjet. I haven't looked at printers in years, so not sure what the price range are for them. I am looking to try to spend no more than $100. I don't really need anything besides a printer I don't need a scanner or fax or anything. Any suggestions?

Well $100 pretty much rules out a laser printer. Get the best photo inkjet printer you can find for $100.

You looking for the DPI (dots per square inch) that it can produce. The higher the DPI the better quality the print will have. Most all photo printers are about the same. Some will print faster then others. So if thats inportant then look at the PPM (page per minute) rating. I would suggest going with a printer that uses a seperate cartridge for each color rather then an all in one unit. It never fails that one color will run out before all the rest. In the long run it will be cheaper to replace indivigual inks rather then a tank that holds them all in one. Also have a look at the price of the inks. This can help you find a good printer that will have a lower overall cost. Too bad they don't rate the printers with a cost per print.

Yeah, with all the printers available now a days it's like trying to find a new cell phone. I'm looking for a new on too, preferably laser, but this research is really going slow to filter through all of them. Let us know what you end up with.

I didn't realize I was looking at printers that only printed 4x6. I looked at some more and I like the look of the Epson Workforce 600. Its a bit more, but I think I could probably use a scanner/copier eventually. The DPI is a bit lower than the photo printers, but it seems like it is still pretty high. Also I looked and I think it has a separate cartridge for each color, but not 100% sure.

If I were you, I'd get a printer that prints directly onto a CD/DVD. Don't bother with labels, they're all junk.

I bought one several years ago from Epson for $90. Canon made one as well. I'm not too sure if they're still popular since I moved to B&W laser printers.

Ahh, I see. :)

I misread the post myself. Nice choice on the printer.
