One of cow orkers bought a HP pocket PC off of Ebay, and he's got me thinking I should trade in my Visor for one. But I'm not trading unless I can get some features I'm lacking in my Visor...

BTW, a search for pocket pc and pocketpc didn't answer any of these, so don't suggest that)

Does a WIRED (wireless is NOT an option, I'm not hooking up a wireless to wired bridge on my network due to the cost) ethernet adapter exist for them?

What's the average battery life? I understnad its ~6-8 hrs, I assume it decreases if you play a movie, mp3s, etc, am I right?

Does WinCE offer any advantages over PocketPC, other then cost?

Which model do you reccomend? Not looking to spend more then about $300, maybe a up to $400. I've seen some HP Jornada's for around that price. CF type 2 slot is also required.

Is it worth the extra cost to get a version with 64mb of internal memory? Programs can't be installed to the CF cards and then only be available when they're inserted, can they?

I don't know how many movies I'll be playing on it, especially if the ibm microdrives don't drop in price. Is the black and white screen really black and white, or is more like the screen on a Visor? Whats the battery life difference on the two? Do most pocket pc's have provisions to be charged other then via the USB dock?

Finally, point me at some good pocket pc sites with reviews and such. I'd like to do some reading on them.

Thanks guys!

BTW (and no "keep the visor" comments. I just want info on the pocketpc's now :p)

What you like doesn't exist, for that price you're getting a brick size PDAs. Closest is Casio E125 after rebates and discounts. NFS4 says the HP are crap since they are, slow sluggish, not too much expansions. Memory is vital at least 32.

EDIT: Front page of PDABuzz, 1.1-1.6 cf2 drive, est 250 and up to 6gb..

anyway I wouldn't buy a PDA now, the ones are being phase out for newer slicker version very soon.. every company is making transition...

I like the iPaq's the best from a usability standpoint. The screen, although 12-bit is also really nice (especially outdoors).

I've been thinking about that...I may wait to see what the new ones are like, and if they don't really intrigue me, try and pick up an older generation model at a bargain price.

But like I said, I'm just looking now...thanks for the info so far...
