I'd check out the for sale forums on timezone.com and watchuseek.com, I've had good experiences on both and saved a ton of money over retail.
Seiko and Hamilton are what I'd look at in your price range, if you want a nice quality automatic.

I like the look and feel of any of the Seiko automatic dive watches.

I see some damn fine watches on their FS/FT forums, but I wouldn't even know where to start :(

I think I'm going with the Tissot watch. I'll probably wait a few days before I order it in case I find a better deal or change my mind. Thanks for all the help everyone!

Jewelry is for girls.

Get a cheap rugged nice looking takes a licking & keeps on ticking watch; spend the rest of that money to put jewelry onto the girl in your life.

First I'd start off knowing what size watch you want. IE: the seiko monster didn't get its nickname because it's small... ;) Personally I like anything from 38 - 44mm.

unless i'm getting a sports type watch, i'll never buy anything that needs a battery again. Seiko kinetic i've had for 12 years...and still going strong. Citizen's are nice too.

Yes, the fancy sparkley big name ones are mens' jewelry.

Of course.

Those are about buying an image, prestiege, gold, diamonds, whatever BS, not about simple tasteful good looking function.

Of course they're mens' jewelry.

Jewelry is for girls.

For 100 dollars you can probably up it to something above FOssil. Maybe Kenneth Cole?

I have the same watch and love it. I did have to send it back under warranty after it stopped working...apparently it is sensitive to water and the internals can rust...so be careful about wearing it in the rain.

Really? It's supposed to be water proof to 50m. The manual says that the side knob has to be tightened or something though...

Thanks guys. I'm liking it so far; it's a hell of a lot lighter than my old Fossil.
