Heya all. I just tried printing a picture that had very bright yellows and greens on it and my hp deskjet 940c did terrible!

so terrible that i've decided it's time for me to buy a new scanner and printer

the scanner i currently set my eyes on is the Epson Perfection 3490

and the printer I like is the HP Photosmart 8250

i'm a bit worried about ink costs for the HP printer but I hear this one uses 6 seperate cartridges and so should have 3rd party ink available for it soon or already

i've also heard that new printer models usually come out around august-september each year and was wondering if I should wait till then to buy a new gen printer

i dont print that much.. and i must admit i mostly print out black and white text.. however i do print the occasional picture and when i do I'd like to have a superb quality

what do you guys think about the two models i've selected ?

optimally i would of liked a printer that also handles cd/dvd printing.. faxes and wireless.. but the latter two features usually bump the price up by 100-200$ and i can't afford a 400$ printer right now

keep in mind i'm in canada when posting links to online retailers please

thanks y'all i appreciate the input

Well, I am of the opinion that printers dont follow the same technology path as CPU's and chipsets.
There is no need to wait for one. Hell, it seems to me that our printing technology peaked a few years ago and quality is actually going downhill.
Buy something nice now. It will still be nice in many years, unlike CPU's.

And for ink, I'd vote Epson.
