I am looking for a laptop around 1000-1500 range. I will mostly use it for debate and work, but I want it to be able to play games on it like BF2 on medium/ low.

Portability is sort of an issue but not that much

Does anyone know of a Laptop that can suit my needs?

check out the msi notebooks the 1029 for your turion w/X700. Or check the 1032 with a centrino and GFGo 6600.

They arent the best notebooks, but for the price/peformance they aren't too bad.

I dislike BestBuy, but they carry Gateway A64 laptops that would probably fit your needs. The mx7525 4000+ is $1350. Comes with 1GB memory 100GB HD and a X600 video card with 256MB(128MB built in). If you drop the X600 to X300 with half the video memory you can opt for the platinum edition turion or 3400+. The only negative on the laptops is they don't come with WinXP standard anymore, looks like they are all XP Media Center editions now. I personally have an older model with the mobility9600 64MB and this machine stills holds up pretty darn well.

Same here; I second that Gateway model. My model (7405gx) is older and only has the 64mb 9600 as well, but Half-Life 2 is playable. I'd say get the MX7525. It goes on sale for $1200 occasionally too. If you can afford it, bump up the ram to 2gb and add a 7200rpm hard drive to make it really scream.
