I'm in the market to get a laptop. can anyone point me in the right direction on where to start?
My budget is $1500.

u can get a pretty good dell, maybe the inspiron 8500
keep looking in hotdeals

they normally have some kinda deal every week almost
 
Newegg sells Asus barebone notebooks for Centrino Processors. $789 for the notebook barebones w/ 256mb RAM and CDRW/DVDRom Combo included. Just need to get a HDD, CPU, OS & Wireless card, I was looking into getting this for myself when I get the money.
 
The first thing to do when considering buying a laptop, is too find out what it is going to be used for. If you want a desktop replacement I can't be of any help, as I can't see the point in those. If you plan on using it as a portable computer, my vote goes to IBM (or Toshiba as 2nd choice).
 
Check out the new Toshiba with the 17-in letterbox display. Less than $1500.
