Would like to keep this around 300 or less
I already have a SD flash card so would like to keep using that.

Optical Zoom, I would like to have more then 3x
Don't care about digital zoom
Would like to have more then 2 megapixels.

Any suggestions?

do you want a point and shoot or an SLR?

edit: nevermind it says under 300  you'll never find an SLR for under $300... but yes like safeway said check out canon's cameras.

and actually i use an HP camera, it was like $280 and its amazing 5.3mpx or something.

nice pix! :D

I said around 300 or less.

Last camera I bought was 299 it was a minolta E223 with 3x optical + 2 mega pixel.

If I need to increase my price range, I will.

try using the buying guide at dpreview for starters. you can select the features you are looking for and they will show you the cameras with those features. there are plenty of great cameras besides canons.

The July issue of Consumer Reports rated 74 digital cameras. Glance through it at a bookstore and save $5.

Put Panasonic on the list for consideration

There's a post in hot-deals for a Panasonic DMC-FZ3 for $199 clearance at Fry's.
It's a 3.something MP, 12X optical Leica lens (high quality), + image stabilization.

I have the lessor 2.1mp (FZ1 modded to a fz2) model and absolutely love it.
Pros: excellent outdoor pics, great zoom, image stabilazation
cons: weak flash, noisy low-light pics

I wouldn't recommend it if you have no use for the big zoom or take all indoor snapshots heavy on flash.
I'd greatly recommend it if you take outdoor action/wildlife shots.

anything 6x optical or more makes image stabilization a neccessary feature

tons of chat about any and all specific cameras over at dpreview.com under forums

try the canon A510. 4x optical zoom, takes SD cards, 3.2 megapixels. i've seen it as low as $150.
