I've been looking to buy a 2008- Accord coupe and had settle for an I4.
Decent power, good MPG and sporty looking(I said looking).
Was looking to spend around ~$15K.
I came accross this car and I went to check it out.
Its everything as described.(autocheck is perfect)
KBB value is like $22K.
I got him to go down to $18K.
Basically its an overkill for me as I was looking for a decent looking car as a daily driver.(I have an S2000).
I was all ready to give him a deposit yesterday but i forgot to bring my checkbook.
Now I'm getting buyers remorse.
1) Its an overkill for what I'm looking for.
2) I do not like the tan interior. I need a dark interior.

I still fawning over it as it such a great looking car and its a really good deal.
If you were to take off the Honda emblems, it could easily pass as a BMW, Lexus and the likes.(as far as the looks).
Chime in and lt me know what you think.

Seems like a fair deal.

Years ago I had an Accord V6 (mine was a 1998) and really didn't like it - it felt like a soccer-mom-mobile - but that was a decade earlier and your mileage may vary. It's certainly a reasonably well-built car and should be reliable, even if it's dynamically kind of dull. I agree that generation of the coupe looks attractive and that sounds like a factor for you.

actually a pretty decent price, fully loaded ftw

gratuitous glass honda auto tranny warning

I know that certainly applied to earlier Honda auto transmissions behind a V6, but surely they've fixed that by now? I would hope so anyway :|

If not, shame on them, they've had plenty of time to fix it.

V6 from 98-02 i would say trannies were glass i havnt seen the 03+ accords V6's have any issues of the like. if you dont drive it like a prick *rocking it in when stuck in snow or neutral drops* but living in orlando the snow wont be an issue the I4 doesnt make enough power to really hurt the auto that tranny will last as long as you need it do. get the damn car enjoy it for daily and know you paid a great price for it!

Only the V6 from 1998-2002 Honda accord have the tranmission issue. That problem has been addressed a long time ago since then. The 03+ Accord V6 doesn't have any problem with the transmission, same thing with the 04+ Acura TL (which uses the same engine/trans)

I think the problem was that the shifter gate or some sort was weak and prone to breaking rendering the transmission useless. **weakest link** lol.

3rd gear synchro wasn't it?

i assume this is the 4 banger?

nice car nonetheless...price is right, and you know the previous owner so that helps make the used car decision easier imo

it is normaly the 1-2 upshift or the 3-2down shift that get really violent and hard which would eventually take the transmission out. and yeah normaly a broken tranny in the V6 would yard drive in 1st gear. dont know exactly the cause of it just know the 4 of the ones ive resold 2 i got for dirt cheap cause they needed transmissions

Why did u assumed its an i4?
I stated V6 in the title and the whole thread talked about potential problems with v6.
The car is fully loaded with every option except for nav.

Wasn't loaded Accord coupe around $25-26k back in 2008? If so $18k still seems little pricey to me but I never understood used Honda tax.

Used honda tax indeed. This price doesn't sound bad, it's not parlance for awesome like above, but not bad. It is quite loaded.

doh. read over too quickly. seems like a good price for sure then, you see civic si's going for that price with similar miles etc.

Awesome car, awesome looking car...v6, tinted windows, light leather interior - won't cook in the summer...just leave the fvcking emblems alone! If you don't want it to look like a Honda, don't buy a Honda. But if you do, that's a nice choice at that price imo.

I was at work today and was suppose to meet him afterward for the deposit.
All morning I kept asking everyone's for their opinions as to buy or wait.
A co-worker of mine happenned to be an ex car salesman and we looked up the black book value.
Basically it would cost the dealer around ~$17,200 to get this car plus fees so essentially close to $18,000.
So even if a dealer were to sell it to me at cost, it would cost me ~$18K +(tax on $18K) VS me paying $18K + (what whatever price I decided to put on a title).
We decided that it was indeed a great price but at the end it would still be an overkill for a daily driver(as I have a S2000).
I texted him back saying exactly that AND if he does not sell it within his time frame, contact me and see if we can work out a deal.
I.e. if he text me back with the price that I offered $17.5K, I would take it.

Honda financial has 56% residual on 3 year/ 15K miles. Why would you pay more than what honda says their car is worth is totally beyond me.

That car fully loaded is ~$32,000.
56% of that is close to $18,000.

I've been looking for an Accord coupe 2008- for a little while and thats by far the best deal I've come acrossed.
Anytime I see a cheap one, it has a rebuilt title.
I do think its a bit overpriced which is why I kept looking but I'm particularly want a coupe and they are all priced like that.

Again, why would you willingly pay more than what the mfr says the car is worth? IIRC you don't get to 32K w/o navi

when they say "my wife wants me to sell it i dont want to sell it" means there is another reason really hahah.. looks cool had a 2004 3.0 liter v6 coupe accord before it got wreaked and it was nice car.. Dont think it was 32k new tho was more like 24k new or something dont remember but it was fully loaded leather heated etc, if i was in florida and didnt have 2 kids id be tempted to grab that car good deal not alot of miles 18k is alot but 40k is low miles

So according to Honda financial, a 2008 45K miles auto should be $12,320(22K x %56) ??
Find me an Accord coupe thats anywhere close to that price with a clean title and I will even travel to buy one.
