Well it time to build myself a new PC. Can anyone recommend the best bet in a motherboard, Rock solid a must. I personally like ASUS boards.

Also I have always gone with Intel but I might consider AMD if that's the best bet today.

you will get mixed opinions on whats best (out of amd vs intel)
the fastest chips from each intel/amd are very comparable

personally i would get a tyan tiger mpx with dual amd athlon cpu's 🙂

but if thats out of your price range, then you can get the epox 8k3a with an athlonXP would be pretty inexpensive and perform brilliantly
 
The best bang for the buck these days is a P4 Northwood 1.6a and what ever flavor of mb you choose..
I have never heard of one that wont do at least 2.2, gig 2.4 and 2.5 are common. With stock heatsink and standard voltage!
kinda like the old c 300a
 
I would recommend the P4 1.6A if overclocking is an option if you want pure speed go with the AMD CPU
