Hey,

I'm looking to build a pc, primarily for gaming. I have a laptop for other stuff.

So far I've decided on an i7 4770k processor, and I'm looking at either a new gtx 980 or a used titan. I believe my next step is picking out a motherboard and building from there. I've done a bit of googling, but most of what I find is outdated, and I want to make sure I'm getting current information on hardware choices.

Look at the Asus Hero Z87. Probably what I would choose. My father is running one in his system. Or even better the Hero Z97 which is just an updated version of it.

You can go z97 but because z87 is essentially phased out you may be able to get great prices for more premium z87 boards.

I really love my asus maximus vii hero z97 mb which has a full feature set and great construction quality. What I will say is stay away from anything made by evga.
