Processor - i7 920

Memory - 3 x 2gb ddr3 10666 OCZ

Motherboard - MSI Pro-E X58

Windows 7

...waiting for next round of nvidia cards to come around.

My question is... is there any bad combinations you see...my last rig i had a Asus P5NE board paired with a q6600 and overclocking was a nightmare. Will i be able to get this processor at say 3.5+ ...looking to get liquid cooling,...with minimal trouble? Using it primarily for gaming...looking forward to being able to max out settings on new games, on 65in DLP monitor at 1080p with nvidia 3D vision kit.

Thanks for any comments.

With liquid cooling, you can hit way higher than that. Two of my friends have an EVGA x58 and a ASUS P6T V2 Deluxe, and they both have their i7 920 @ 4.0+ with a TRUE (non-lapped). But I haven't heard much about MSI boards. Gigabyte makes good stuff too.

Can your 65 in DLP do 3d vision? I thought 3d vision requires 120 Hz refresh rate. It's been a long time since I've had a DLP set so not sure if new ones can do that.

i run my i7-920 @ 3800 on air with no problems, i would hope you could hit at least 4ghz on water. The only problem i see is your memory which runs @ 1333mhz for ddr3 10666, in my board (Asus P6T) the memory divider on lowest possible setting runs at 1421mhz for 181mhz bus speed, and if you're wanting to hit 4ghz or higher i'd imagine you'll be looking at least ddr3-1600 (PC3 12800) or higher ram speed.

Mitsubishi dlps are 120hz. They the only company that still makes dlps. Their 82" dlp looks real sick
