looking to build a desktop

I would like to build a new desktop for myself but the problem is I have no idea what I need! Lets start with what I will be using the PC for. I guess the main functions of the pc would be storage of movies and music as well as burning and internet surfing. I dont play games all that much so I dont need to build a gaming rig. I guess my main question is whats the best setup for tons of storage? RAID SATA I have no idea what they are or what one to use. As for price I dont want to spend tons but i will spend whatever I need to to get the job done. For the moment I have a Emachine with an athlon xp 3200 with around 250 gigs of storage. Well since I have been going crazy downloading legal torrents I have no more room! So please if you could send me in the right direction that would be awsome!
 
THat doesnt seem like that bad of a pc (minus the emachines part). I woudl just get another 300gb hd or something. To use RAID and increase storage, you would have to buy 2 more hard drives. Right now, you would be best off waiting to upgrade the machine.
 
Upgrading is by far the best option in your situation. Just add harddrives to your rig and you should be fine. That computer is fairly good and should not be replaced
 
i agree. if you really want more performance...perhaps a ram upgrage? but otherwise like lockmac said...add a HD and you should be good for a while.
