If you must save the $10, I guess drop to an i3. You can also put off getting the HDD until the mail-in rebates come in.

Or you can put off getting the video card for a month or two or three until equivalently-priced new cards appear.

And why should the OP take your word over Ken g6? The OP should do his own research and then ask questions for the more experience and knowledgeable members
here to answer.

And besides what is wrong with Ken g6 build list? Looks reasonable to me.

The i5-8400 is still the budget gaming king, IIRC.

Because Pro's don't buy Locked Chips....Never did and aint about to start to lol
Actually you a full of ****. Real Pros don't overclock since their livelihood depends on having functioning equipment that isn't going to fail at anytime now. Even among folks like us, some of us don't want the drawbacks of overclocking our CPUs.

Sorry, you don't know what you're talking about.

The i5-8400 is a 6-core, 4.0 GHz turbo CPU. There's no need for a faster CPU for gaming.

Again, please provide a better build using new parts from reputable retailers with a price of around $800.

I don't think can be done for 800$...it's some Godly stuff lol

If you can't discuss the question in the first post beyond dismissing it entirely, then you should not be posting in this thread.

We all can create "godly" builds if we ignore the $800 budget, but that budget is the point of this thread.

Edit: it could be a useful post to say something like, "if you can spend $100 more, here is my $900 build .... " but a $1,500+ build for someone with around $800 to spend is not helpful.

Bit over budget, but a very capable machine.

It's possible to save $10 on a cheaper PSU(EVGA 500B), $10 on a cheaper case(Corsair 200R), $10 on a cheaper SSD(like Crucial MX500, same as above poster), $10 by changing to AMD B350 motherboard and Ryzen 2600 CPU. Should be right on budget if you choose to do that, but I like the choices in the list for PSU and SSD. Motherboard and CPU combo are down to preference though.

Very nice of you to go through trouble and build a system for the guy. You did amazing with all the parts. All for 800 dollars is a great deal. The bronze PSU is the only suspect in the list imo. OP, listen to Ken G6 and grab those parts and enjoy life.

Woot Prebuilt would be my first option honestly... :X

goto Woot.com and look though the lineups for something with a 1060GTX.

You'll be amazed at the price like this guy:
https://computers.woot.com/offers/h...tb-gaming-desktop-8?ref=w_cnt_lnd_cat_pc_3_64

And that is with OS included, which most of you guys who pieced out parts missed.

That's a great price, but a couple of notes:
- It's "factory reconditioned" not new. For "reconditioned" you need to be careful about who did the work and what condition it's supposed to be in.
- I don't see a warranty listing. 30 days? 0 days? -- with new retail parts you can generally get a 3 year warranty or more, as long as you don't damage it yourself.

Also, there is no SSD and that particular model only has 2 RAM slots not 4, so moving to 16 GB can't be done by buying a second 2 x 4 GB kit.
