Looking on ebay for conroe/ came across old overclocking king!!!

You all remember this bad boy... Got to love competition.... it is bringing us all the goodies again. Conroe will hold the record i believe for quite some time. I know their were some good pentium 4 overclocks but they ran to hot. I think conroe and the old athlon xp mobile seem to be more in line with each other on air cooled overclocking.

Now where is that conroe...

Nope but wouldnt have mind having that when they first came back. Upgrading right now from an amd athlon 64 to conroe right now.... was browsing for the core 2 extreme on ebay and saw that....

he got it to boot at 2.7 on air from what he said... that is at the top of what those did back then on air isnt?

Actually, 2.6 Ghz on air was pretty much the max. 2.5 Ghz was really the max for a 24/7 overclock, but only with a really good heatsink. I ran my XP-M 2600 at 2.5 Ghz for about a year, until I couldn't stand the sound of a 119 cfm 92mm Tornado any longer. It was so loud that it could be heard in the next room, with the door closed. But, it kept me at a max of 43C.
