Hey folks,

I was thinking of trying out THIS card. First off, is it a good deal? I know the performance is excellent, thats not even a question. My main concern is compatability with my motherboard(s). I have two 865PE mobos.

ASUS P4P800 (not deluxe) with the 865PE chipset.
MSI 865PE Neo2-PFISR with the 865PE chipset.

Has anyone had any compatability issues with any Radeon card (the one mentioned above in particular) and any of these boards?

No matter how small a detail, I would be very grateful to know about it.

Thank in advance everyone.

Sapphire OEM's for ATI so it should be as good as any 9800p on the market. I've heard tell that the RAM is Hynix, I'll tell you as soon as mine get's here today 🙂

$225 for a 9800 pro? Damn good deal IMHO, great time to buy cards 5900's for under $200 & 9800's for just over.

Edit:

Just arrived, yep Hynix & 2.8ns (which means it should do atleast 357mhz)

Ok, thats good news for the type of memory it has. Congrats! Like I said, I know the card will perform very well, I was mainly concerned with compatability. I had a sapphire 9700np that was not compatable with either of these mobo's. I was wondering if that was just with the R300 core or not.

Keep em comin!! Thanks,

you shouldn't have any compatibility issue with R350 core cards. Problem with your previous ati may was because it was an early verison (1.0) which used to have quite a lot of problems with MoBos.

Ahhh, thats what I needed to hear! Thank You McArra!! Going to get the card now. One last question if you guys dont mind. I like to play CoD. I know there was an issue with this game and some ATI cards. My question is, what version of the Cat drivers should I use and do they have a patch for the CoD issue. Thanks.

I bought the 9800 Pro-AIW about 7 days ago along with the Dell 2001FP 20" LCD monitor... fantastic picture quality and brightness in nearly all applications... problem is with GAMES... much "tearing" and artifacts all over the screen... I tried everything: newest direct X version, newest ATI drivers, Omega drivers, new sound card drivers, tried many different card settings, changed some bios settings based on ATI tech support comments, NADA... Put my Gainward GeForce 4-4400 back in...voila...same awesome images and text in applications, and no problems in any games that we have...

So, I have a brand-new Radeon 9800 Pro-AIW, and a new Bose Wave-Radio & CD player that I won at work that I'm going to trade for a laptop I hope!!!

Were you using the same setting for both cards? The 9800Pro being faster than the 4400. May have made enough difference to the image. Did you try the alternate DVI mode or reduce dvi frequency on high res displays?
