I want a new monitor.
I't will be used to play games on (mostly cs and other shooters).
What i want is a monitor that has:
I would like 1920x1080 resolution.
I want a DVI input signal.
It needs to be under 24".
I have been looking at a monitor from Benq, the G2220HD, but am having a hard time finding any reviews about it.
Anybody here have first hand experience with it, that would like to share them?
What monitor would you get that is under 24" and has a DVI signal?

I just bought one of these over my lunch break:

http://www.staples.com/office/..._true_FEATURED:SC3:CG4

specs from HP: http://www.shopping.hp.com/pro...fronts/FN747AA%2523ABA

I've checked it out before at Best Buy and Fry's, and I was impressed. I'll post again this evening after I hook er up.

It's a glossy screen, which I know turns some people off... but I've wanted a glossy screen since we got my wife her HP laptop over a year ago. I love what the glossy screens do for color depth and contrast, and I don't have any light sources behind me. I don't do any sort of professional work that requires color accuracy, so I base my decisions on what looks good to me not what is necessarily true to life.

I also don't think it has DVI specifically, but it does have HDMI which is basically the same thing with a different plug.

So, I got home, and hooked er up.

I am very pleased with the picture, but I really like the glossy panels so keep that in mind.

So far, the only thing I not too crazy about is the lack of height adjustment and no USB/card ports. It's a very no frills monitor, but the image looks good, and that's what I really care about the most. Plus this thing was dirt cheap for a 23" screen.

Xbox 360 also looks really good on this screen. Native 1920x1080 resolution helps a lot. Sure, the games are still generally rendered at 720p, but they are scaled internally on the 360, and look good. Obviously still not as good as a game rendered at 1920x1080, but that's more of a limitation of the console than the screen.

Oh yeah, I can confirm there is no DVI, just HDMI and VGA - only the VGA cable is included so make sure you get yourself an HDMI cable.

Bottom line: if you want a glossy 1920x1080 screen for under $250 after tax/ship, I'd recommend this. If you don't like glossy screens, this probably isn't for you.

I just bought a Westinghouse L2610NW. For browsing the Net. $419 local . I tell ya I am shocked for a cheaper 26" its really nice. I was surprized. I use it in 1280X1024. So I can read easy it scales perfect at that res 75Hz. For HD 1920x1080 Is spectacular 60Hz. 1920x1200 60Hz. This comes with Hdmi cable and all hook ups . I really like considering what I paid for my gameing monitors this is a good TV/Monitor.

Further update in the HP w2338h (sorry if I steal your thread, but there are not very many reviews on this screen right now):

Text is very crisp. Kind of reminds me of when I got my first LCD back in 2004, and was blown away by how clear the text was compared to my CRT. There is also absolutely zero screen door effect. Blacks are blacker then on any LCD I've owned yet, and whites are cool and crisp.

On the downside, the vertical viewing angles aren't great. Given the fact that there is no height adjustment available, it is somewhat difficult to achieve a good angle that is both comfortable and makes for a uniform screen. It's not a deal breaker for me, but HP really could have put a little bit of effort into making the screen more adjustable. It sits a little low for my taste, which makes me angle it up a bit. This consequently makes me notice the less than perfect viewing angle, which might not be the case if I was able to adjust the height.

My original recommendation still stands though. This screen offers a better image than anything I've seen in this price range at this size.

The HP screen looks quite good but i cant seem to find it on my little island, only thing i would like to change on it is the speakers, i dont want them, mabe you can turn them of i dont know.
$260(mabe 300) is my limit, so the Westinghouse L2610NW is out of my price range. Thanks for the suggestions.

Don't buy a TN panel, only advice you need. :D

Yeah, I don't use them either. I never even hooked up audio, and I just turned them down all the way.

This is generally solid advice, but is getting much more difficult to do, and probably impossible to do at the OP's price range. There are a lot of TN panels that really do look bad, but if you shop around you can find something that looks good. Again, I'm talking from a gamer/web surfer perspective. If you're super finicky about color accuracy and/or do professional photo work, then you probably do need to sink money into a high end panel.

Well, a no frills addition for your no frills monitor would be to use some double sided tape and tape a small USB hub on the back or leg of your monitor and use that. I use Scotch Interior/Exterior Mounting Tape for that. Very good stuff and will stick very very very well. You'll need to put a little muscle into it if you want to pry that tape off.

Cut tiny strips of 2-3mm width and use three or four strips of them to mount a tiny USB hub (such as those made by kensington or logitech) to your monitor. This ensures a very secure attachment but also ensures you can actually get the darn thing off again if you want to.
