Hello ladies and gentlemen, first off I have no idea if this is in the right area to post this so I'll start by saying sorry to the admin for moving me if he/she must do so, and thanks.

Howdy again! With Black Friday coming up and my computer crying at the heels of some of the newest games out there, I've decided to get a new PC. I've been planning this for quite some time now but couldn't really understand the details behind the parts that go into a computer. In summary, I want to do alot of gaming, rendering, art with this new build. It's been 4-5 years since I made one and it has aided me very well, but it's time is just about at it's end I believe. Without further delay, this is what I intend to use my new PC to handle:

Games:
-Kerbal Space Program (absolutely necessary!)
-DayZ Standalone
-Skyrim
-I occasional indulge in mods. ENB cranks the needs up considerably I think. I also love putting 100+ mods on it. I, carefully, make my mods compatible with everything so it does not crash.
-Supreme Commander: Forged Alliance
-After 2 hours of fighting, it really slows down for some reason. Never could understood why.
-Shadow of Mordor
-Total War: Rome 2
-Assassins Creed: Unity
-Far Cry 4

Programs:
-Adobe Photoshop CS6
-Blender
-Source Filmmaker
-PaintTool SAI Ver.1
-3D Max
-Sony Vegas

I saw a good build that I think might work. It's in this link and not far down from the top ========Linky========

Current needs and wishes:
Do not need:

  1. Monitor - It can handle 1920x1080 resolution.
  2. SSD (exception included) - Current SSD can handle 250Gb but if I wanted to sell my current PC to help out with the purchase of this new PC, I would need a new HDD for that PC since I'm taking both of my HDDs (250g SSD + 2 TB HDD).
  3. Keyboard and Mouse
  4. Power Supply - The original failed on me 8 months ago. This was more than I needed and I wish to carry it over. May need to get a new one for my PC sale. Contains 1050 watts (link).
Wishes:

  1. Wireless Headset - Looking for something with amazing sound.
  2. Speaker System - Been awhile since I had one. Before my headsets, I had a 2 speaker system @ $35. Served me well for 10 yr. but the Booster stopped working some time ago. Was looking into getting a great sound system without premium pricing for a brand like "Bose". I don't dispute their reputation for great sound in small packages, but I want something equally as good in a 2-4 speaker setup. Surround Sound can happen but they have to be wireless speakers.
  3. Ease in Rendering - Rendering in SFM and Sony Vegas. Sounds like a simple solution id like to think, more ram or more CPU! I don't think I'll need anything beyond 3.5-4 Ghz though.
  4. Future-proofing - I know their is no such thing, but I would like to be good for the next 4-5 years. Was thinking about the GTX 970 for my graphics unit.
Program Intensities:
I intend to use SFM, Blender, 3D Max, SLI, and Photoshop heavily. Photoshop and SLI more than Blender, 3D Max, and SFM. I wish to take my art to a digital medium and tinker with these powerful tools. I'll also use Sony Vegas to mix up videos on occasion, but by no means I'll be using it heavily.

The intent on these programs will be on Art and Recreation. 3D Models and Digital art fascinate me and eventually I would like to make a side profit with them. The only barrier for me right now is the tools to make this happen. I use SFM on my computer here and it brings it to it's knees. I have an old Wacom Intuos I'll be using until I can afford a Cintiq tablet. It's too bad I don't got the budget to include that with my PC! Oh do I wish to have one of those beautiful tablets!

My budget is hopefully to not exceed $1200-1300, but I need to open to reality so if something can handle everything that I listed and can be done under this price, that would be amazing. Thanks for your time!

The games you listed can be run on mid range system depending on your monitor resolution so you're requirements really will be based on the other programs you will be using. If those other programs are just light use, then you really don't need to spend $1200. We will need more details from you about how intensive your use of Adobe, Blender, Filmmaker, Paint, 3dmax are.

Have you seen this http://forums.anandtech.com/showthread.php?t=2192841 stickied thread? It has a great list of parts updated regularly that will easily run the games you listed.

So please describe, your use of the programs (are you a professional artist or used in business??) and also what monitor resolution will also help.

But, more importantly, make sure to answer the questions from the other sticky, because IMO, there's not one little thing wrong with spending a bit more on more RAM, a better CPU, a better PSU, a better case, bigger SSD, etc., compared to mfenn's builds, even if the result will not be much, if any, better performance in games.

Alright, I read the sticky and adjusted my main post to reflect what I'd like. Thanks for letting me know about that post. Interesting...

HDD: Why not carry over your SSDs and throw in a 5400RPM 1TB HDD? That should be like 30-50 bucks on a good sale.

Headphones: I've heard the cheaper Turtle Beaches are nice (50-80 bucks). I personally go in for the high end logitech or really high end Astros. Depends on ur budget for these.

Speakers: Ive bought 2 sets in the last 2 years. The logitech Z623 initially. Great sound, but I missed the 5.1 surround of my Altec Lansing. So I replaced them with the Z906. Amazing speakers (I had to RMA once coz the controller wasnt working).

I'll be honest, you can spend $100 on sound or $600 for high end gaming sound stuff. Depends if this is in addition to your budget or inclusive.

I definitely agree with this. The sky is the limit when it comes to audio. Since the OP's overall budget is $1300, I'm going to leave at least $200 for audio.

i7 4970K + GA-Z97-UD3H-BK combo $370 AR
Team DDR3 1600 16GB $105
EVGA GTX 970 $330
Reuse SSD $0
Reuse HDD $0
LG DVD Burner $13
Reuse PSU $0
Fractal Design R4 $70
Zalman CNPS10X $15 AR
Total: $903 AR AP

That's the basic system if you reuse your SSD and HDD. If you want to get new ones of those:

Crucial MX100 512GB $190
Seagate 7200RPM 2TB $70
Total: $1163 AR AP
