Looking forward to my next System

I'm really looking forward to my next system, I just don't have any idea what it is yet 😛. Not sure if there will even be anything in the near future that would justify an upgrade from a 2.3ghz A64. Though I'm very anxious to ditch this system, because i think there's something wrong with my mobo, and with my memory, and probably a bunch of other problems. I'm done waiting 10 minutes for it to fully start up, and freezing all the time.

Anyways, What system can i look forward to? Will need the following:
CPU
Motherboard
Memory (1 gig probably)

I would like to upgrade pretty soon, but i know i may have to wait a while to justify paying all that cash for another upgrade. Though right now, i think just about any system would be better. I guess i don't have to buy really soon though, even though i'd like to. I can look down the road a while if there is a lot of new hardware coming out.

I will build once I find out what kind of system you need to run BF2 smoothly at 1600x1200 with FSAA.

Dual-core would be fun, but I don't think I NEED it nor want to wait for AMD to get its butt in gear. By the time I get around to building this Fall, I will probably be able to buy ATI's R520.

I heard Dual Core Cpus won't be much of a step up for gaming anyways. The next gen video cards don't look so great either, i don't think either of those will be worth waiting for, but i could be wrong.

Bump, it really doesn't seem like there's anything worth waiting for. Anything out there now that would be a good upgrade? I was thinking about a 3.6 Ghz P4

nah, if anything get the dfi ut sli-dr so you have skt 939 if you want x2 and sli for $50 extra and you can decide if you need 1 next gen card or add a second 6800gt.

just imo

Ewww P4.... Your system is fine. It doesn't need an upgrade. If it keeps freezing, maybe your power supply is to blame. The only viable upgrade I would consider for that system is another stick of 512MB RAM.

A 3.6ghz P4 wouldn't be a good upgrade, runs way too hot, and won't really be faster than what you have. If gaming is your thing, going to 1gig of ram, and getting a 6600gt or 6800GT would be a good upgrade for you.
