Looking for your opinion on a project

Hey there everyone,

I am just reaching out about a project my team and I are working on. I wanted to ask you all for your honest advice and opinions. Like it or hate it, we'd like to know why! Thank you

Synopsis of Project:

Compete, Share and Earn on a Gaming Social Site.

Users will be able to post for points, earn levels and ranks while meeting new Gamers from around the globe.

For the tech savvy, The site is 100% open sourced. If you create a great addon code, we will buy it from you.

We are creating an area where the site revolves around the users voice. We believe that everyone should be heard and we are creating a space to do it.

This is a vague representation of the full scale project but hope for feedback to create the best community possible. Thank you

To be honest, it doesn't sound that appealing to me.

So, it's a gaming forum, with the gimmick that you gain 'levels' for posting.

Most of us here don't mind some good posting - we're on a forum for discussing - and 'meeting new gamers from around the globe' might be ok, though you can in a game.

The 'buying' part might sound appealing to a very few people. You say 'revolves around the users voice[sic]' but what does that mean?

I have the gaming forums on this board. For a game I play, I have the forums for that game. I have general gaming forums like IGN or PC Gamer.

Basically, the voice concept is everyone initial want to be heard.

The site we are creating is essentially a Facebook but directly towards gamers. Social Connecting, etc.

I do know this is done by forums but we want to beef it up a bit.

I think its a great idea. It could def work. People love playing games socially. It oculd be huge if done right. It would take a great marketing effort.
