i had a friend who i used to play with in wow who had a physical switch he made that allowed him to temporarily dc from the servers and ghost to get past monsters etc

I am playing a game now where if i have lag i can stack up a bunch of commands and the server will let them all go even though its not supposed to, so short of turning on a microwave (to mess up my wifi signal) is there any more reliable way to do it?

So basically you're asking for a way to cheat in an online game? Good luck with that! While you're at it, please post the name of the game, the server you're on, and your character/account name so that you can be properly banned from the game.

I don't know *exactly* what you need to do to simulate what you need, but you could try various programs that can simulate delay/packet loss. The 2 I know of are Dummynet and Nist Net. I've mostly used to simulate jitter on VOIP, but it might be able to do what you need. I believe you need Linux for both.

thanks for the links Jamsan, I'll look at them, but I would prefer to have a windows app or physical device to do it

no, I'm asking for a way to cause packet loss or lag.

I already know the way to exploit in the online game. I wouldn't really define it as cheating so much as bypassing a delay.

I am not really here to discuss ethics of cheating/exploiting though.

You could try checking VMWare's website to see what appliances they have. You never know, they may have a FreeBSD one with one of those programs installed. Worst case, you can find a FreeBSD appliance and find an easy enough guide to install one of those 2 programs.

Also, I agree. This is a networking forum, not an ethics one.
