I would reccommend the APC Back-UPS Pro 650 (serial) or 500 (USB). APC makes EXCELLENT products. My 650 has no problem running 2 systems, 1 15" monitor and 1 17" monitor with power to spare. I don't trust those cheap brands (cough...Belkin...Cyber Power...cough). When choosing, be sure to look at the voltage let through/clamping voltage. APCs are all rated at <40V some are as high as <400V. Also look at Watts not VoltAmps. Different companies have different ideas of how many voltamps are in a watt. Though technically they should both be the same.

Also consider TrippLite. I have a 700VA model from them, and it's been terrific. Many people have said that TrippLite is as good as APC, and I haven't found anything to complain about with mine. Another good brand is Best Power.

heh sorry I don't know much about UPS, in fact I'm interested in getting one my self. do those ones shut down the computer for u in the event of a power outage and it's battery is running low?

I'm guessing they do, becuase you said that one hooks up via the USB port...

Just get a 'Back-Office 500.' I've got the 280 and it hasn't a prob running my BP6 with 2 celeries and a 17inch monitor for 5 minutes or so after a power outage.

Whatever you decide, it's APC!

Belkin a 'cheap model'?? This is news to me. I've always found Belkin to to be considered one of the higher quality companies, and their prices were certianly not cheap. Does anyone else have bad things to say about Belkin? I was just about to get a couple of their UPSs.
