Hi folks, I live in an old condo in Seattle and experience brownouts quite often. About 3 years ago when I put together my last rig, I put down about $150 into some random UPS from Fry's.
I have zero background in electrical work so I pretty much went with the moronic "get the thing with the highest numbers listed under my budget" strategy.
This time, I'd like to tap into the Anandtech collective before I contribute more than I need to the Fry's retirement fund.
First of all, should I keep my old UPS for my old machine? I hear batteries die out after some time.
Second, my new computer is going to sport an intel Q9450 and a 4870. I assume there's no way my current UPS will reliably handle the loads pulled from my old machine as well as this new one.
What should I look at picking up? I'm planning on going to Fry's today or tomorrow to get the UPS so I can start benching the new parts I got in from newegg the other day.
