Looking for TV recommendation

I'm looking to buy a 50" TV for approximately $2000. Any recommendations?

Last I researched about 6 months ago, I had a Samsung DLP in mind (forgot which one).

Samsung HLR-xx-67 720p DLP 50" is $1,700 shipped from Amazon.com, you might be able to get a similar deal locally. The 1080p version is almost double the price.

The "light engine" costs over $1,000 to replace so an extended warranty is a good idea.

I'm considering this myself if I don't go for the 1080p set or a smaller screen.

Like EngenZerO suggests the Sony A10 LCD RPTV is also a good choice, I'll probably get this if I decide to get a 42" set.

The last couple of times I saw the Sony A10 LCD it just looked like crap. It is a very popular TV so it's possible it looks better in the right setting with a good source. I'm just not a fan of LCD TV's.

Be sure to spend a lot of time on the home theater sites so you know all of the pros and cons of the TV you decide to get.

We?ve hade a Sony Wega KDF-55WF655 for over a year now and love it. When I was looking I don't remember the Samsung DLP having it's own speakers. Origionally I was going to get 5.1 sound as well but the Sony sounds so good I haven't found the need to upgrade.
