I guess I am looking to see what we can and can't sell on anandtech.
Where are the rules for posting on the F/S forum. I read the list of rules at the top of the forum, but it did not say anything specifically about H cards for DTV systems.

As long as it doesn't infringe the rules you read, you should be ok.

You can sell pretty much anything as long as you're not a reseller, linking to auctions, selling illegal or inappropriate things such as warez, etc.

Use common sense. :)

I've got a hunch that would go over like a turd in the punchbowl.

likewise russ, thats why I asked. Yet, it does not break any rules or any of the points listed in the for sale section. The cards are definitely not illegal.

I'll think about it for a bit.

Slag, I gotta agree with Russ, that probably wouldn't fly.
Here's an analogous situation: bongs aren't illegal to sell (at least in Oregon) as "tobacco water pipes". Since they can be used to smoke tobacco, they are technically legal.

However, I don't think I'll ever see a "FS: 6-FOOT BONG WITH DEMONIC CLOWN BASE" thread here on AnandTech. :p

I'd guess anything that treads the border of legality won't be allowed.

I'm not positive, but my initial impression is it's a card that will enable your DTV box to recieve all the preview channels, but the 'iffy' part is it also sounds like it can be modded to pirate signal not paid for. I could be wrong though.

Ahhh. Thanks.

If it's iffy, then it's probably not the best idea to sell it.

Basically with DTV there are 2 different kinds of popular cards.. H cards and HU cards.. HU cards are also called "football" cards and have a picture of a football player on them. H cards are blue and do not have the picture. H cards are highly sought after for emulation since they can easily and cheaply be written to to pirate a signal. Many many people use h cards as normal cards, but the hackers seek them especially to use to pirate a signal.

Nothing illegal about H cards unless they come pre-programmed by someone who is not authorized. Thats like saying "Guns kill people"

Thats a bad example. Thats a item that was made for an illegal use and then tried to make it look legit. H cards were legit and made to look illegal. ;)

Selling H cards is like selling CD-r disk, there is the significant chance that someone will use it illegally.
