When I was a child, I had this building set.

1. It was to construct buildings only
2. The "beams" were made of plastic, all the same size; about the size of McDonald's french fries and were black in color
3. The beams had like a triangle protrusion on one end and a cutout on the other; that's how they linked together
4. There were plastic bases that the bottom beams would snap into to form the foundaton of your building.
5. You covered your building with these plastic snap on cards. They were the size/thickness of playing cards and looked like windows, doors and lights and such. I remember these cards were mostly blue and silver in color

For the life of me, I cannot remember what this toy was called. I'm sure they don't make it any more...I've looked in Toys R Us a few times. Can anyone help?

The Girder & Panel set is REALLY close. In fact, right where that page ends and there are no more pics, it looks that's about where my toy was "developmentally". Mine would be in "The General Foods Era: 1974-1978" but there are no pics! Argh!

My toy didn't have any motors or roads or anything....just thousands of pieces. :D I would build these buildings taller than me (about 4 feet at the time) It was great fun.

Thanks to those who've already posted.

And BUMP!

This picture looks REALLY close...exact same type construction; except mine was blue/silver.

Girder and Panel rocked. I played with that all the time. Only problem was the panels... they hung of the girder by a single holes, and the plastic was thin and tore the hole open easily. I recall I had a motor set for it, too.
