i am not sure how much my new desk can support, but i believe the box said something about a 17" monitor. looking at the desk, i think it can hold a 19", but to be sure, i want to try and get the lightest one around. any suggestions? thanks.
I was able to put a Samsung 955sl a Dell 19 in (forgot the model) and my entire body in the center of it without any giving of the desktop. Could be good quality parts, could be an over conservative rating.
Either way, I wouldn't worry too much about the weight unless it looks visibly flimsy.
the desk looks quality, its from ikea. the flat surface is a piece of wood probably an .75 - 1 inch thick. do you think that would support a 50lb monitor? i currently have a dell 17" trinitron, probably weighing somewhere around 35 lbs
I just nailed a small round piece of particle board (Home Depot) on the end of a 4x4, painted it all and wedged it under my desk where the monitorsits and now I use a 21' Sony without any bowing. Probably could put 500 lbs on it now.
