Looking for the last great RPG's with NO voice acting..

The inner nerd in me has been dying for a quality old school RPG...something with a good story, good music, and relatively decent graphics (Saturn/PS1 quality at least)

I absolutely can't stand the voice acting in games like FFX etc. It completely detracts from the experience and really ruins the atmosphere in my opinion.. Are there any recent RPGs (in the past 5 years or so) that got generally high reviews but use only text and no voice acting?

It seems these games died out with the PS1 Final Fantasys + Chrono Cross being the last great releases. Is there anything else out there?

I asked this on another forum and got these suggestions:

Skies of Arcadia
The Legaia series
Wild Arms
Vagrant Story

Any other opinions appreciated. 🙂

I watch foreign films and anime subtitled and am an anti-dub snob, but I had no problem with the voice acting in XenoSaga I - II (PS2).

Suikoden I, II are excellent rpg with no voice. Lunar I and II remade got voice but they are godly in their own right.

Last 5 years is tough...I think they've mostly used voice acting since FFX....

I think Shadow Hearts is all text and it was fantastic. Xenogears is a bit older, but it's still a gem.

You could try JRPGs that offer japanese voice acting with english subtitles, if it's the usually horrible quality of english dubs that upsets you.
