Looking for the best wireless router

I have a WGR614 right now. My friend needs one so im going to give her mine and I want to get a new one.

Right now where i have my router sitting at, about 30 feet from my bed in my apartment going through kitchen and walls, the signal strength is about 36 but takes a while to connect sometimes. Its ok I suppose but I wish the signal was stronger.

Whats the best one to get right now? I got this one like 2 years ago so I assume theres something better out there. I saw the dual band one from netgear but it looks like tons of problems from amazon reviews.

I have built in wireless that comes with the IBM T42 laptop.

Any suggestions on a better wireless router?

If you like your WGR 614 but want better range you may want to check this out.
You won't get full improvement till you get a RangeMax adapter.

If you want to spend some good earned money on something if your a gamer the D-Link gaming router is a good choice. It's what I'm looking at anyways...
