Hello guys...I'm looking for a new laptop, and have a budget of $700-800 Americano dollars. Im going to college and i want the best possible laptop i can buy with that price range. Im going to major in computer science or businness.

I want one with a big ass monitor size like i mean hella big.

Also this stuff :
strong performance (mostly just general multitasking, though a graphics subsystem capable of running fairly recent games would certainly be nice)
enough memory (though that's probably upgradeable on any laptop)
solid design (sensible keyboard/trackpad functionality, sturdy construction)
Storage space

Yall got any ideas for me?? 🙂

thanks 4 ur help if ya respond...if u jus read it and click bak fuk u!!

i've got an idea for you. how about show a little more decorum. that last 'fuk u!!' part is totally unnecessary. what a classy first impression you have made

I all got yer ideas right here. 😀

This week, Staples has this HP dv7-1451nr on sale for $650 that has everything on your wish list and more.

Listing on staples.com.

Specs from HP.

Shortened list of specs:

Processor: AMD Turion X2 Ultra ZM-82 Dual-Core Mobile Processor
Memory (RAM): 4GB expandable to 8GB
Hard Drive Size: 500GB

Optical Drive: LightScribe SuperMulti 8X DVDñR/RW with Double Layer Support
Display Size: 17.0"
Display Type: WXGA+ High-Definition HP BrightView Display
Operating System Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit with Service pack 1
Battery Type: 8-Cell Lithium-Ion
Network Card: 802.11b/g WLAN
Video Graphics: ATI Radeon HD 3200 Graphics RS780M with up to 1918MB
Other ports: 5-in-1 integrated Digital Media Reader
Extra Features: HP Webcam with integrated digital microphone

I've seen this machine. It's gorgeous. Staples previously offered the same machine at the same price with a 320 GB hard drive. This time, it's up to 500 GB. 4 GB of RAM should be enough to start. You can bump it up to 8 GB if/when you reach that barrier.

It's got onboard shared memory video that can take up to 2 GB of RAM, but the machine can take enough RAM to overcome a lot of that limitation.

A 17" screen is about as "big ass" as they come in a laptop, and the 8 cell battery will give you longer battery life.

One other thing you'll want that you didn't list -- HP's tech support is excellent. They've helped me with my laptops, including free help through their online chat with one that was out of warranty. I recommended this machine (with the 320 GB drive) to my apartment manager. When he tried to burn the Recovery DVD Disk set, the burn failed. I told him to phone HP's toll free support. They sent him a Recovery Disk set FedEx overnight and phoned the next morning to make sure it had arrived, and they assured him that if the problem continued when he tried to burn other disks, they they would replace the machine.

I design electronic products, and I know that, no matter how hard you try, there will always be some field failures. The question then becomes how well the company deals with them to protect the customer. HP is kewl beans. 😎

Wich college axepted you, dawg?

You wouldn't believe the kinds of colleges and kinds of students accepted to college in the US these days. A college degree ain't what it used to be.

Lots of the Dell Deals are loaded with 4 gigs of ram and Vista 64 bit OS. Depends how big you want the screen and how light and easy you want it to be so you can carry it. One person may want a 14" loaded or a 17" with a number keypad.

Some of the Dells sell at Wallmart but often the best deals can be found online. Lately it seems like every week the deals keep changing.

My daughter has a Dell Inspiron with a 15.6 "" screen and it seems big. However, the Studio 17" screen model comes with a Number Keypad. It depends what kind of extras you load it up with. Add a more expensive video card and the price can go up pretty quickly.

That Staples deal looks really good.. For that price, it's possibly the best i've seen

Colleges are afraid to reject people apparently. Kids in my class (2009) couldnt pass, so the school just gave them C's.. Still got in to colleges with no problems.
