Nothing really cheap or flashy. I want something simple, but decent quality and something easy to build with. I'd like to stay under $50 and certainly under $75.

Some of the better cases last time I was looking at cases were the Evercase and the inexpensive Antec's that the Lanboy's are now based off of.

TIA,

Sal

Try the Foxconn Supercase PC-146
which comes in under $50. I've seen it recommended around here.
I have an Antec Solution Series SLK3700 I got for $67 which is a really nice case.

Just curious.. Why didn't you go with the SLK2600AMB for about $2 less at Newegg? Was it because of the drive door? Both are functionally similar, but the 2600 is much more attractive IMO without being too flashy.

I just wanted to get an idea of what was hot right now in affordable cases. It looks like I haven't missed anything new.

Thanks.

I also own the SLK3700AMB and love it! It is quiet, stays very cool (thanks to the great design), looks great, and is A+ top quality (it is heavy thick steel, so you know it is good quality). The paint looks and feels like car paint. I honestly have never seen/used/owned a nicer case (that hasnt been modded)!

Speed freak has the best case for the money. Comes with rubber gumets to reduce vibration, come with 120mm high flow low noise fan and if you 7 volt it it's perfectly silent cept for PS...

I would get EverCase 4252 -> $25 and Fortron FSP300 -> $27. Case is nothing to look at but offers excellent air flow... ditch the stock fans though for pannys.

I also have th 3700AMB and can second that coice if it's in the price range.

It is much much better than the 2600, especially for a similar price range. The 120mm fan mounts, the better PSU, removable drive cage, etc, etc.

I used an InWin S500 for a PC I put together for mom. Very nice for the price, came with a sparkle PSU, 92mm exhaust, and a duct for the CPU. It made for a very decent, fairly quiet, and not at all pimped out computer.

I think there is more than one 3700. The 3700AMB looks similar to the 2600, but then there is another 3700 that is beige and looks cheaper. That's the case I thought we were talking about initially.

I bought this case for my sister's computer and it's very nice for the price. However, I found the noise almost unbearable. I found the case to be extremely loud with stock PSU and stock 120 mm case fan and extra 120mm front fan. Other than the extreme noise, it's great case for the money.

You must 7 volt that fan and it's still more than enough air flow or it is unbearable... they plan for the worst conditions.. 7 hard drives, dual processors, highend video, a few burners etc..server conditions.. for home it's overkill. check out 7volt.com

Thx for the tip. I'll try that out. I know the noise is killing her.
