my new 6800 gt is arriving monday, and i was thinking, my 17" generic monitor just won't cut it

i'm looking for a new 19" crt, preferably that has a flat screen, and that has the best performance:value blalance
i intend not to spend more than 350 canadian dollars (which comes out to no more than about 280 us dollars)

i've seen some, like the Samsung DYNAFLAT 955DF, Samsung DYNAFLAT 997DF (i like this one), Viewsonic G90FB,, and so on... but i have no idea what to get

help me out???

I have a Samsung dynaflat 753 and it is great! For CRT's my personal choices are: Dynaflat (won me over), Trinitron (Can't say enough), Diamondtron (Other people can't say enough including one of my friends so it couldn't be bad).

this is what my friend told since i am shopping for a 19" monitor also: you should pay attention to the 2 main screen types, shadow mask(better for text and colors) and aperture grille(better for graphics, but fuzzier text at high res). i think sony's trinitron is aperture grill. they reason i'm mentioning this is because many people buy aperture grille monitors and notice 2 thin grey horizontal grey lines which are visible at some point on pretty much all aperture grille monitors. shadow masks don't have the lines, but are not as flat.

I have a NEC/Mitsubishi 930SB monitor, 19 inch. It's pretty awesome for everything I've done with it so far. But I can attest to slightly fuzzy text at higher resolutions (Currently 1280x1024, 100hz), and it's an aperture grille. No problems at all with gaming though, and the "SB" (Superbright) modes are handy, I find that games' colors look a lot prettier in SB1, but for most everything else, text looks best when SB is off. With regards to the "lines," I didn't see them until I remembered that my monitor was supposed to have them and I actually looked for them. But even when looking for them, they're all but invisible on a dark background. Only thing I'm hoping to do now is tweak it some, and see if I can't sharpen the text at all.

Superbrite modes are not designed or meant to be used for anything other than occasional gaming, video etc. SB modes will make text fuzzy and overuse of SB modes will shorten a monitors life. For your resolution you should be using 85hz. Try that and see if the text clears up. I thought mine was fuzzy untill I put my glasses on LOL. It is razor sharp.

Nice + $25 for shipping. Not bad at all.

Not to many here have seen the Realsync 19" from PCClub.com

I own 3 of them and they are super flat / crisp CRT's. Right now they are $189.99+ shipping. They come in Black and Beige. Check em out if shipping isn't to much to your home that is. One shipped from the online store to me shows @ $24.00 for a total of $213.99 but check the web site and see if there's a PCClub store near you to save the shipping cost.

Realsync specs:

18.0" Viewable
1600 x 1200 Max. Resolution
0.21 mm Dot Pitch
Provides Realistically Precise Images
3 Year Manufacturer Warranty

I'll give it a shot when I get home. I actually moved it up to 100hz after trying 85, but I'll try it again and see if there's any difference.
