not having luck finding the link to the walkthrough for working with SATA on my rig.

I have a reason to reformat, and thought i would take this opportunity to use the 2 serillel2 converters to convert 2 of my 160gb drives (1 maxtor & 1 seagate) to SATA, for some reason nothing wanted to work yesterday, i remember there was a lot of headache with this in the bios, if anyone could point me to the article i would greatly appreciate it.

I have a small 60gb in there as well which i would probably leave on one of the IDE ports, as well as 2 ATAPI drives, i think in enhanced mode that shouldn't be a problem, but no matter what i tried yesterday the bios woudln't recognize either of the 2 serillel2 converterd drives... hoping the article will remind me why...

TIA

Hmm...my memory is really hazy here...but there was a problem with Abit's earlier Serillel adaptors. I know that two that came with my NF7-S's I needed to get replacements from Abit so that I could use them with my 160gb and 200gb drives. See if they 60 gig will work with one!

hmm, it seems i should have tried enabling IDE Bus Master in the bios, seems to have solved the problem for others on the abit forums, i kept staring at that in the bios numerous times, but for some reason it didn't click in my head....will try tonight when i get home, hate waiting :)

just an FYI for anyone who may run into this in the future....my issue turned out to be the stupid bios, apparently my system was so screwed up that abit's flashmenu utility wasn't getting through to their site to verify the newest updates (i probably buttoned down one too many hatches), apparently i missed the last 3 bios updates :)

now its all happy, somewehre between this flash and a reformat my issue of the speakers resetting to a 2.1 config after every reboot also went away, been putting up with that thorn for over a year now, feels nice to not have to worry about that every time i want to game.
